21.6 – Some of my grandmothers stuff!

day-6We’re at day 6 of my 21 day declutter challenge.

When my dad passed away 3,5 years ago, among his stuff (which I have yet to go through properly) there was a box of my grandmothers things.

I haven’t been real good at sorting her stuff, and it’s on my agenda for later this year. But until I do the proper sorting, there are a couple of things that I figured there were no reason to hang on to, as they don’t hold much sentimental value.

So here we are… 6 small items from my grandmothers stash!

1 birthday book
1 “Whats your favorite actor” memory book
2 wallets
1 address book
1 picture frame (yes I’ve kept the photo)

Not a big stash I know, but hey a few items here, a few items there, racks up a big number at the end 🙂

I’m being joined in this challenge by:
– Barb, at Decluttering The Stuff, is on day seven already. I’m loving her reversed version, I wish I had started that way too.

– Grace, at The CFO MOM Blog
– Jen, at The Hidden Hoarder, she is on day five and is running away from us all with 155 items so far… I’m super impressed!

  3. I can’t wait until the day when 6 things makes a difference. I have a long road ahead of me yet! I have a grandma bucket in my basement that I’m dreading getting too. You did great letting go of at least a few things! And I’m glad you kept the pic!!

    1. I’m with you 😉 I’m still ways away from when 6 items makes a big difference… but I have slowly but surely been downsizing since I got back form US late 2009. It’s only the last soon to be three years.. I’ve been writing about it. Before that I got rid of a lot of stuff 🙂 I started the blog so I could still be at it, even after all the obvious things were gone.. kinda a way to be accountable you know 😉

  4. Kudos for jettisoning the stuffed animals (totally agree on the creepy-eyed one), the measuring cups, the bags, even some of your grandmother’s things — but the Bose system? OMG! I hope you didn’t just put them out for trash collection. Tell me you took them to some charitable organization which will find a new home for them. (-:

    1. Yeah, right? The Bose is one sweet system, and my heart is still yelling at my brain for getting rid of it 😉 No… off course I didn’t just put them out for trash collection… are you crazy!!!! 😉

      They found a new home today.. with a 17 year old or so.. who is probably going to drive his parents nuts with all the sound coming from his room… I was fortunate enough that I manage to sell them, which was kinda cool as they are a costly system and I made a little of it back… money that made it straight into my future travel fund 🙂

      I don’t really sell much. I prefer to give the stuff away, but this time I just lucked out 🙂

    1. Nahhh, Yes could… if she had actually filled them in.. but the addressbook held one address.. my dads (and I kept that page). The birthday book wasn’t much better.. so pretty much just empty stuff.

      The letters however, could probably have been interesting.. IF I had a clue about where to find her nieces/or other relatives. You see, I haven’t met any of them since I was a little kid, and she passed away a long time ago, so I wouldn’t even know where to start looking :-/
