21:07 – Another random cull!

2017-21-day-7It’s day seven of this years first 21 day declutter challenge.

Even though the flu, stopped me somewhat in the tracks, Β I have been collecting a few things here and there, that no longer serve a purpose.

It’s a random bunch of stuff, mostly pulled out from a cabinet her, a cabinet there and items just in general hanging around in the house. I haven’t been very organized about the culling, I’ve just been pulling things out as I have come across them, the last week or two.

You know how that is sometimes. You open a cabinet, drawer or just walk past something, and suddenly there is an item that catches your eye, that you wonder “What the heck am I holding on to this “junk” for”?

I have a box sitting in my guestroom, that I collect these random pieces in. I find that it’s easier to shed my stuff when I have this designated box. I’ll find an item, pop it into the box and presto, I no longer have to “think about” that particular item again.

I don’t have to remember that I’m supposed to get rid of it next time I declutter, I don’t have to make a decision on it over and over again (out of sight, out of mind), and since most of the time the declutter box sits around a few days, should I possible regret “tossing it” (which I never do) I do have a couple of days off grace πŸ˜‰

And when the box is full… it “walks” right out of the house. And that’s what happened today πŸ™‚

Here it is, the random stuff that just left the house!Β

day-7-1

1 serving tray
1 pack of CD/DVD envelopes
1 metal tin
1 space-bag
1 set of sports glasses with extra lenses
1 decorative martini glass
1 small tea box
1 sweeping tray
2 shelves for a fridge
2 jewelry boxes
=
12 items

day-7-2

1 extension pad
3 food storage items
1 lamp
1 music CD
6 software Cd’s
=
12 items

12 + 12 = 24Β itemsΒ going out-the-door πŸ™‚

It’s day seven, and I thought “why not tally it all up so far”, so I did:Β

Day 1 = 22
Day 2 = 47
Day 3 = 9
Day 4 = 58
Day 5 = 147
Day 6 = 180
Day 7 = 24

Total so far = 487 Β

Hey, that’s almost 500!!! I think I can get to that.. no problem πŸ™‚

We do the same, Anne. We always have a box in the closet for “to be donated” stuff. When it’s full, out it goes and we resume collection of more “to be donated” stuff. It’s so much easier than remembering what to donate.

Oh, but I have him on my computer πŸ˜‰ I have ripped all my music to my computer, so if I want a listen… I’ll just connect the pc with my wonderful sound system (wireless) and off he goes πŸ˜€ I also use tidal (Spotify competition) and stream all sorts of music through my sound system… so don’t worry… he ain’t lost πŸ˜‰

This one made me smile – we must ALL have a pack of CD envelopes and sunglasses with spare lenses (and a Lionel Ritchie CD πŸ˜‰ ) I have all of those!!! (TWO pairs of the sunglasses bought to wear at a ski resort in France and guess what – we never changed the lenses once!) I am doing a very random, disorganized clear out at the moment with thoughts of you and Melissa keeping me going. My home office/studio is SO bad right now I want to scream. It is affecting my creativity and so I HAD to stop working and start decluttering – but my heart is not in it because I just want to create create create! If I ever get mega rich, I will employ someone to tidy up as I work and then I won’t end up knee deep in paper, paint and craft debris. Keep it up everyone – lets declutter the world one house at a time. πŸ™‚

Believe it or not.. but I still have a few more sunglasses albeit not with spare lenses though.. I might do a sunglasses declutter one day.. but maybe not.. it is handy to have a spare for friends at times πŸ˜‰

I get the wanting a “James” to help you out… I wish I had one too πŸ™‚
