My paper pile from hell!

I told you yesterday I was going to find ALL the paper in my house and pull it together in a pile or two!

Well I did… and here it is! My paper pile from hell!

Yeah, I should probably have heaped it all into a big hazardous pile. I’m sure that would have looked way more impressive 🙂 But, I’m just to organized, what can I say?

It might not look to bad, but I’m telling you.. there are still about 54 inches of paper… 😦

You wouldn’t by any chance be struggle with papers, just like me, now would you? Why not join me in culling it all down!

  1. That looks like a do-able project, Anne.

Your paper monster is small in comparison to the fire-breathing dragon of TWO overflowing filing cabinets we had to tackle in my parents house . . . plus the boxes of letters . . . plus the shelves of books . . . plus the . . .

    Go you!

    1. I’m hearing you on the fire-breathing dragons 😉 I’ve been good at decluttering paper over the years, but this is the pile I don’t ever seem to get rid off (hence the wish for digitizing the lot of it). The overflowing filing cabinets, boxes ++ that’s my mums house.. but for the time being (and hopefully for a long time) that is HER mess, not mine 😉

  2. I think your paper pile looks quite nice if you ask me. I haven’t seen the surface of my desk in almost 10 years! 🙂

    1. Ouch! Kinda sounds like my “desk” (actually diningroom table) at occasions.. like right now actually 😉 I’m in the middle of a letter writing task that demands papers floating around.. Good thing is that to have room for my dinner plate I have to clean it up (read: souffle it over) on occasions 😉 And you just wait.. as soon as I get heavily into the scanning and stuff.. I might have to eat on the floor instead… lol

    1. I hear you! Paper is one of those things you don’t ever seem to escape. You’re bound to keep some and before you know it, you’re dealing with a paper monster (again). I’m hoping this time around I can get back to how my world used to be (obviously a long time ago).. two folders only! I can dream.. right? 🙂

  3. You get points for keeping your paper pile neat and colorful. I lose points for keeping old school papers in a gray file cabinet in the garage. I would love to digitize all of them, but only if I could still read the margins – that’s where I put the good ideas!

    1. I’m not so sure you lose points at all..they are after all tucked into a file cabinet (rather than spread all around), you get points for that 🙂

But I get how papers can get overwhelming… I know people (I don’t have to go further than family members) who keeps quite a bit more papers than me… nicely tucked away in file cabinets, or file folders.. but still a lot of papers. And I see how it can become quite an undertaking, thinking about having to deal with them.

A way to get there, maybe could be to go through them once a year (every half year)? And sort, shred and toss, I’m sure that will help you along on that path of “might happen one day” digitizing. And before you know it, you’re down to an reasonable amount and have found all the ones worth keeping (the once with the scribblings in the margins) – and presto you might just find that digitizing could be a breeze;-)

  4. Ugh — paper. I’m drowning in it! I am nowhere near as organized as you.
I have countless garbage and shopping bags filled.

I’m planning on selling my house, so I’m purging. Paper is the most difficult to work on. 😩 Your picture is impressive to me.
