Yesterday I mentioned I would do one more run at getting some of my junk out of the house, before Christmas.
As I meander through my days, there are times I come across items I no longer need or want, as I’m sure we all do. I have gotten into a habit of putting these items into my guestroom, until I get around to actually get the stuff out of the house.
Well my guestroom is “piling” up (well not really.. I could hide it away if I wanted it to… but… ) and it’s time to see some of these items actually leaving the house.
Gotta get ready for Christmas, you know π
So here we are – Day 1!
I changed my diet about a year ago (for health reasons), and there are things I no longer eat or use as part of my food preparations. So the other day I went through my food “pantry” (well, just a regular kitchen cabinet, really) and sorted out the stuff I no longer plan to use anytime soon.
I picked this time a year to do this particular declutter task, as one of the organisations I follow, “Hjelp oss Γ₯ hjelpe, Rogaland” (help us to help, Rogaland) are gathering food to help people out, especially over Christmas. B took a look at his place as well and found a couple of things.
In addition to our own stuff, we did a miniature shopping “spree”, and got some Christmas cookies, candy and other more Christmas’y dry goods from the store. We wanted to add a little extra to the mix. We will get them some more a little closer to Christmas, stuff like meat and other perishables.
In addition to food, they have also asked for things like small gifts and wrapping paper. So I did a quick rummaging through the house and found a couple of unopened rolls of Christmas wrapping paper.
We just delivered it all at one of the collecting point in my neighborhood.
I love it when there is a win, win, win situation like this.
I get stuff out of the house, we get to contribute, and someone out there might get a little of the help they need.
Todays tally!
15 food related items (the extras were B’s so they aren’t really mine to count π )
14 gift wrapping items; paper, gift bag, tags. Christmas cards and some string to tie it all together with.
I’ll get them some more, including some gifts to hand out, I just need a trip to Ikea first π
=Β
29 items out the door!
SO – I know this isn’t the expected 49 items. But hang in there, I’ll be catching up tomorrow π It’s the total of 343 that counts, you know π
See ya tomorrow!
Excellent! Definitely a win-win!

That’s what I was thinking π I’ve supported this group before, as they are a hardworking group, that tries as best they can, to help people that for some reason or another need a little extra help. And they are local to this area, which I also like.

That might be true, but you guys, hands down are doing a much better job at it than me… π
I don’t know if you might have had a little bigger pile to start with? Because, in my head, I’m imagining that if I had gotten rid of more than 15000 items, I would be eating of my floor with my fingers.. because there surely couldn’t be anything left in my house… Or could there? I might be underestimating the amount of stuff I have, LOL π (which I’m sure I am)
Or off course, it could be (and this is what I suspect is the reason) that you guys just do a heck of a better job at getting down to the last bits an pieces… whatever the reason… you guys have done a fabulous job, and I’M IN AWE!
You are my roll model… I figure.. if you can… I can π
Well… I can try π

Haha I spent an afternoon and counted Barbie shoes. I figured I spent too many years pucks by them up or stepping on them. I think it was in the hundreds. I went through the desk and got rid of about 500 not working pens. It added up quickly.
I know you are going to finish. We arenβt done but arenβt feeling the obsessive need to Declutter every spare moment either. I think we are at about our comfort zone.

Thank goodness I don’t have Barbie shoes lurking around… I have enough problems with my grown up shoes π
And I hear you on the pens.. I have no idea what’s up with pens though.. I think they breed in the night or something, lol
I might be getting a little closer to my comfort zone – I hope… it’s just… the line seem to move the further along my declutter endeavor I get.
B keeps telling me I won’t be happy until I’m sitting here in my underwear on the floor or something, ha ha.. he might be on to something.. but I sure hope he is not right, as a good sofa would be much nice to sit on, lol

lol there are people who get rid of the sofa. I’m too much of a couch potato at times to give up that comfort! Our line keeps moving too – I thought it was just us. I guess as we get used to less, we realize more can go.

It’s so much easier going through your house, when you know it can benefit somebody else… it just pushes you just that little extra, that you otherwise might not have pushed yourself.
And yeah.. B is doing good too.. I guess he gets a little affected by all this decluttering I’m doing π

Yes, it is!! Especially since I can see by the dust that I haven’t used it!
That’s good. Yay!! Catching the de-cluttering bug is good for him too!
