Oh no…

I’m standing here frozen, my grey Tupperware bowl is on it’s way to the floor….

Two seconds ago I opened my fridge to get some milk, and I accidentally bumped into a Tupperware bowl. And now I’m helplessly watching it falling towards the floor. I tried to grab it, but nope, and there is nothing I can do, other than watch it fall in “slow motion”. I know exactly what’s in it…and I’m crossing my fingers, hoping, the lid will hold.

The bowl, actually it’s quite elegant in its movements, hits the floor, bounce back into the air, and in even slower motions, the lid pops off, and red home-made raspberry sauce splashes out. Oh no…

There is sauce on the wall, floor and fridge. And it’s not a small area either, I told you the darn thing bounced right?

I’m removing as much as possible, as quick as possible, hoping it won’t stain the walls. And realize I have to move the whole fridge, since I see tell tails of red sauce along the side, and all the way to the back end of the fridge area.

So out comes the fridge with a bunch of dust-bunnies tagging along (obviously been a while).

I’m frantically wiping the walls hoping against all odds, that the sauce will come off, my matt painted, white walls. Well, I can tell you.. the matt paint, sucked the sauce right into it, and the result is, very light “pink” markings on the wall 😦 And there is no way I’m going to get away with this being an “artistic” thing….

Well, I did get to “declutter” some dust-bunnies!

But now I have to paint a wall!

Any volunteers out there?

  1. Thanks for liking my “Do you feel poor?” post: http://frugalhausfrau.wordpress.com/2011/10/11/do-you-feel-poor/

Your “like” led me back to your blog – and I just had to comment here on your raspberry debacle! Very descriptive! It reminded me of the time I was making raspberry sauce and threw it warm into the blender – it expanded and blew the lid off spraying sauce on me and EVERYTHING in my kitchen, including the ceiling…it was the most expensive raspberry sauce I’ve ever made!

I didn’t make a New Year’s resolution this year; don’t know why because I usually do…but I’m inspired to declutter after seeing your posts!

    Thanks!

    1. Your comment made me chuckle, sorry don’t mean to laugh at your misfortune with the raspberry sauce, I’m just vividly picturing it 😉 fortunately for me, the ceiling wasn’t affected (I think… maybe I ought to check). I’m glad you like my site, I’m a blog newbie and it’s going to be fun to see what this will turn into… so far I’m having fun 🙂 I like your site as well, what I’ve seen so far is great info. I just found you, so haven’t had time to check it all yet… will be spending a little more time “with you” over the next few days. Thanks for checking out my site as well 🙂

      1. Thanks Anne! I chuckled, too, as I thought back on it!

I like your idea, too, about one thing a day – that’s something I do with a LOT of things. It helps me to keep from getting overwhelmed.

I also talked this weekend with my sister in law, about doing what she calls “blitz” cleaning/decluttering. Instead of saying “I’m going to clean and sort a closet/garage/etc”. She’ll say “Today I’m going to spend 10 minutes or 20 or 30” on whatever project she’s planning. Then she keeps herself absolutely focused on it for that period of time – and then STOPS.

She does that every day until the whole project is done and says that she gets an amazing amount of things done that way.

        1. I like the name you guys uses “blitz” cleaning/declutter, cool 🙂 I use the same system with quite a few of my “projects” to, there is such a thing as eating the “elephant” in small pieces 😉 some tasks are just to big to reach over in one go.

I have a few bigger tasks on the agenda that I’ll be posting about. Among them, digital clutter, my photo task, paper clutter, digitising projects… and I’ll be using the slow and steady approach on them..

As you can see, plenty stuff planned for this year 😉

            1. Thanks, I just hope I can do the topics justice 🙂 I’ll do my best on writing it, and if I’m lucky there might be something useful there for others as well 😉
