We’re at day 9 of my 21 day declutter challenge.
I think we all agreed yesterday to throw the challenge rules out the window π
And today I’m doing exactly that!
About 1,5 years ago I changed my bathroom routine! I switched from regular store bought products, to more natural/organic and homemade products.
I simplified my hair styling (not that I ever really did much of this anyways), and stopped using all sorts of junk in my hair. I moved from regular shampoos to pretty much no shampoo, and the few times I use shampoo, it’s Lush solid shampoo bars (which btw, are great for travel).
I switched from junky deodorants, to Lush solid deodorants, and the last year I’ve almost eliminated deodorants all together (only use it when I really, really have to).
I also started to mix my own facial and body oils instead of using regularΒ store bought moisturizers. I really like using organic and natural oils, so there is no way I’m ever going back. Which means there are stuff in my bathroom, that needs to go.
So here we are… 22 items going out-the-door!
Some of you might notice that there are a couple of items in the picture that are somewhat more natural and sustainable products… so why haven’t I used them up first? Well… did I mention I really, really like my own oils… π
I’m being joined in this challenge by:
– Barb, at Decluttering The Stuff, is on day tenΒ or something.
– Melinda, at PurpleSlobinRecovery, you gotta read her declutterathon. I love the inner/outer dialogue. This is so me sometimes…
– Grace, atΒ The CFO MOM Blog, she has gotten a big box of stuff out of her house.
– Jen, at The Hidden Hoarder, she is on day eight, would you believe she is at 329 items already!
NOW you’re rocking it!
I’ve tried a few LUSH products ~ great aromas.

Wait, wait! What? Hardly any shampoo or deodorant??? Ok, the shampoo I can kinda see, since I don’t wash my hair every day. But deodorants???? I can’t skip those , if I want to leave the house and be around people!! Please tell me more about this!!
And thanks for the endorsements every day!!

Let’s see now… I have super, super short hair, so WHEN I use shampoo I don’t use much, which means a bar or a bottle will last me a lifetime… mostly I just “wash” my hair with water, vigorously rub my hair while in the shower… and strangely enough.. this cleans my hair and makes it look just as nice as when I wash with shampoo. Now mind you, this works in NORWAY, as we have super nice and soft water. When I go to UK or US, I need shampoo.
Then we are on to deodorants… I don’t eat a lot of “funny” food.. mostly just wholesome food, made from scratch, loads of smoothies and salads. I don’t sweat much, so my body odor is pretty fresh (at least that’s’ what I’ve been told π ). The oils I use have among other things coconut in them, which a lot of people use as deodorant on it’s own… I also have a pretty quiet life (due to my headaches) so I’m home a lot, and should I have an “stinky” day (which I really don’t) who cares, it’s just me and B here.. and HE don’t care π
Now, if I really need to make sure I’m on my best smelly self.. well that’s the day I DO use my deo π

Oh, ok, wow, I do know soft water makes a lot of difference!! I don’t use much shampoo either, but I do have to have it, due to our hard water!
AND, Norway doesn’t get frying pan hot, I understand, so that also helps eliminate need for deod!! That is something i can NOT skip!! I didn’t know coconut oil was a natural deodorant, either! Thanks!

I’ve never been one to rise to good challenge, but I did recently rid myself of a dining room table, its two leaves and four chairs. The table rarely saw any dining action, but it did serve as a magnetic secondary clutter collector. I’m enjoying the extra space.

My kitchen/dining table (yes, one only) does attract a lot of clutter… I have no idea why… could it be because it’s right inside the entrance door? π

Twenty-two items? Wow! It amazing how much stuff we have cluttering up things in our home. I just had a quick check. I cleaned my desk about an hour ago and I already have 12 different things on it. π

I’m not going there… all I have to do is look at all the “crap” I have showed aside to fit the computer… for me to write this..
It is disheartening, it’s not that long since I cleared up this space π¦
